THE INSURANCE BROKER

In return for compensation (commission) the insurance broker will provide insurance contracts between the insurer and the insured, thereby a producing reconciliation of interests.

An independent insurance broker such as CANINENBERG & SCHOUTEN acts on behalf and in the interest of the insured. The broker advises the (potentially) insured, determines coverage needs and confers with various insurance institutions with the client's needs in mind. The agent is thus able to ascertain the optimum coverage solution most suitable to the client's risk structure. The cheapest solution is often not the best choice. The agent has information about insurer provisions and rate structures that the customer cannot access. In addition, the broker advises the customer in the event of damages and administers damage settlements.

The insurance broker is at the customer's disposal not merely up to the time the contract is signed, but continues to look after his needs for the life of the insurance contract. He serves as a neutral advisor and representative of the customer's interests.
